Account Settings
Account settings control your personal profile, authentication, notification preferences, and display options. They are separate from workspace settings — changes here affect only your account across all workspaces you belong to.
Profile
Your profile includes your display name, avatar, and job title. Other workspace members see your display name when tasks are assigned to you or when you add feedback or notes. Your avatar appears in the members list and in assigned task cards.
To update your profile, go to Account Settings (click your avatar in the bottom-left of the sidebar) and select the Profile tab.
Email address
Your email address is your login identifier. To change it, go to Account Settings and select the Security tab. Enter your new email and your current password to confirm the change. A verification email is sent to the new address — the change takes effect only after you click the verification link.
If you change your email, update your Gmail integration if it was connected to the old address — the integration does not automatically follow the email change.
Password
Change your password from Account Settings, Security tab. You must enter your current password to set a new one. Passwords must be at least 8 characters. Barvol does not have password complexity requirements beyond length, but we recommend using a password manager to generate a strong, unique password.
If you forget your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email.
Timezone
Set your timezone in Account Settings, Preferences tab. Barvol uses your timezone for:
- Displaying event times in the Calendar view
- Scheduling the daily briefing email
- Displaying due dates and timestamps throughout the app
- Generating weekly syntheses (the synthesis is generated in the workspace owner's timezone)
Timezone is detected automatically from your browser on first login. If it is incorrect, update it manually.
Appearance
Choose between Light and Dark mode from Account Settings, Preferences tab. The default is System, which follows your operating system's preference. Switching appearance takes effect immediately without a page reload.
Deleting your account
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Go to Account Settings, scroll to the Danger Zone section, and click "Delete account." You will be prompted to confirm by typing your email address.
Before deleting your account, ensure you have transferred workspace ownership if you are the owner of any workspaces. Deleting your account while you are the only owner of a workspace will also delete that workspace and all its data.
