Privacy

This page explains in plain terms what data Barvol collects, how it is used, and what controls you have over it. For the full legal privacy policy, see barvol.online/privacy.

What data Barvol collects

Barvol collects three categories of data:

Account data — your email address, name, and password hash. Required to operate your account.

Workspace data — everything you create in Barvol: tasks, goals, decisions, feedback entries, CRM records, journal entries, and workspace settings. This data belongs to you and your workspace.

Integration data — data synced from connected services (Gmail, GitHub, Google Calendar, Slack, Notion, Linear). This data is fetched from the respective services using the OAuth token you authorize, stored in Barvol's database, and used to power AI features and cross-tool views.

How your data is used

Your data is used for exactly three purposes:

  • To operate your workspace — displaying data in the app, running syncs, and delivering notifications.
  • To power AI features — the AI chat, weekly synthesis, and dashboard insights all use your workspace data as context.
  • To improve Barvol — aggregate, anonymized usage metrics (which features are used, error rates, performance metrics) help us improve the product. These are never tied to individual users or workspaces.

Your data is never sold to third parties, used for advertising, or shared with other Barvol customers.

AI and your data

Barvol's AI is powered by Groq. When you use the AI chat or any AI feature, your workspace data is sent to Groq's API to generate a response. Groq does not store this data beyond the immediate API call and does not use it for training.

Barvol does not use your data to train any AI model, including Barvol's own models.

Data retention

Data retention depends on your plan:

  • Free — integration data retained for 30 days
  • Founder — integration data retained for 12 months
  • War Room — no retention limit

Workspace data (tasks, goals, decisions, etc.) is retained as long as your workspace exists, regardless of plan.

When you delete your account or workspace, all associated data is deleted within 30 days. This includes integration data, workspace data, and AI context.

Your rights

You can export all your workspace data at any time from Workspace Settings, Data tab. The export is a JSON file containing all tasks, goals, decisions, feedback, CRM data, and workspace settings.

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing privacy@barvol.online. We process deletion requests within 14 days.

NoteJournal entries are private to the individual user. They are not visible to other workspace members, including workspace owners, and are excluded from workspace data exports by default. You can include them by selecting "Include journal entries" in the export options.
