Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them. If your issue is not listed here, contact support at support@barvol.online.
Integration not syncing
If an integration has stopped syncing, try these steps in order:
- Go to Integrations and check if there is a yellow or red status indicator on the integration card. Hover over it for the error message.
- Click "Sync now" on the integration card to trigger a manual sync. If the error is temporary (network issue, rate limit), this often resolves it.
- If the integration shows an "Authorization error" or "Token expired" message, disconnect the integration and reconnect it. This generates a fresh OAuth token.
- Check that your account with the third-party service (Gmail, GitHub, etc.) is still active and has not had its permissions changed.
AI chat giving wrong or unhelpful answers
If Ask Barvol is giving generic or inaccurate answers:
- Check your AI context — open Workspace Settings, AI Context tab, and verify your company description and current focus are up to date. Stale context leads to irrelevant answers.
- Check integration status — if an integration is not syncing, the AI lacks that data source. Fix the integration first.
- Be more specific — vague questions get vague answers. "What are my tasks?" is harder to answer well than "What tasks are assigned to me and due this week?"
- Start a new chat — if a conversation has accumulated confusing context, click "New Chat" to start fresh.
- Flag bad responses — click "This seems wrong" below the response. This helps us identify and fix issues.
Weekly synthesis not generating
Weekly syntheses require the Founder or War Room plan. On the Free plan, syntheses are not generated automatically.
If you are on a paid plan and the synthesis is missing:
- Check that your timezone is set correctly in Account Settings. The synthesis is generated on Monday in your timezone — if you are in a UTC+ timezone and your setting shows UTC, the synthesis may appear later than expected.
- You can trigger a synthesis manually from the Journal page by clicking "Generate synthesis" and selecting "Last 7 days."
- Syntheses require at least 3 data points in the previous week (tasks, feedback entries, journal entries, or integration activity). If your workspace had very little activity, a synthesis may not be generated.
Can't log in to your account
If you are unable to log in:
- Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page to reset your password. The reset link is valid for 24 hours.
- If you have 2FA enabled and lost access to your authenticator app, use one of your recovery codes (saved during 2FA setup) on the 2FA screen.
- If you have lost both your password and your 2FA access, contact support@barvol.online with your account email and workspace name. Account recovery requires identity verification.
Data not appearing after connecting an integration
After connecting an integration, the initial sync can take between 30 seconds and 5 minutes depending on how much data is being imported. Look for the sync progress indicator on the integration card. If it is still showing "Syncing" after 10 minutes, disconnect and reconnect the integration.
If you connected the integration and the sync completed but your data still doesn't appear, check that you selected the correct accounts, repositories, or channels during the authorization step. You can update the authorized scope from the integration settings without needing to fully disconnect.
Billing and payment issues
If a payment fails, you will receive an email notification and Barvol will attempt to retry the charge up to 3 times over 7 days. During this period your access is not interrupted.
If you believe you were incorrectly charged, contact support@barvol.online with your workspace name and the charge date. All billing issues are handled within 2 business days.
